soon (school of other nows)
Experiments, project management, programme development & network creation
We are dreaming up a school. A school of other nows. A school as a community of learners, standing on three legs: critical thinking, collective dialogue and self-reflection. An informal intergenerational para-educational method, a living ecosystem, a sum of its parts.
We are hoping to move beyond headline culture and polarisation by building an infrastructure of solidarity across varying points of view, ages, and life experiences in the hope of challenging common narratives. In order to engage in new ways of world-making in a fun, challenging, involving, and embodied way SOON will hold spaces for human-to-human interaction, somewhat shaped as a school-to-be in order to unlearn and be curious. We aim to challenge what is comfortable, and yes that includes our own echo chambers, to become vulnerable, to learn, to grow.
Feminist Futures — Helsinki & Copenhagen
Project management, design process facilitation & network creation
Feminist Futures is a platform for change and community building. We have an active focus on themes such as sustainability, accessibility, justice, anti-racism, care, and inclusion.
Inspired by the work of the Make the Breast Pump Not Suck collective at the MIT, I was part of initiating Feminist Futures Helsinki (FFH) in the spring of 2021. That year we organised a fully online feminist hackathon, working with local grassroots and community organisations on topics such as immigration, mental health, surrogacy, urban development, anti-racist internet and eco justice. The hackathon saw 50 participants and more than 20 partners and mentors, primarily based in Finland, come together to imagine feminist futures for Finnish society. On the Research page you can read more about the thesis that I co-wrote with Eva Duran Sánchez about this experience.
Following my return to Denmark I decided to initiate Feminist Futures Copenhagen (FFC). In the spring of 2023 we organised our first in-person hackathon. We worked with local grassroots and community organisations on topics such as solidarity economy, soft technology, archival practices, and digital utopias. The hackathon brought together 40 participants and more than 25 partners and mentors.
In both events I have been working across all levels of organising; from high level strategy and partnership establishment to budget and communications. I have grown immensely through these experiences, and look forward to continue to grow through and with the Feminist Futures community.
